Teach me good discernment and knowledge, for I believe in Thy commandments. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Thy Word. Thou art good and doest good; teach me Thy statutes and Thy ways. Then a demon-possessed man—he was both blind and unable to talk—was brought to Jesus, and Jesus healed him so that he could both speak and see. The crowd was amazed. “Maybe Jesus is the Messiah!” they exclaimed.
The gospel of the Kingdom begins with the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we enter this season, where are you on this journey into a deep and fulfilling relationship with God?
Obedience, and love…desiring to follow God. What do we celebrate at Christmas? Is it a time to fill up on worldly stuff or a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus? I know the stores and people who manufacture the goods for sale would like to close the year having made a good profit. All the stuff that we get that we don’t want, all the stuff that we get that fails to contribute to our happiness for more than a moment, the stuff that distracts us and eats up our time, time that could be spent with family or friends, time that could be invested in relationships. The money spent could be invested in peoples lives, giving each of them a reason to celebrate the King of kings…Jesus Christ. Ask yourselves, is it about the gifts we buy or the relationships we have? Is what I am doing this season honoring all that God has done for me? Or am I longing for worldly gifts and temporary pleasures? Are you free to live for God?
May the love of Jesus build a consuming fire in each of us, to the glory of God.
